Properties
| Key | Value |
|---|---|
body | Development is controlled by time, temperature, dilution and agitation. Change any one and the negative changes. A consistent negative comes from holding three of them fixed and choosing the fourth on purpose.
Fix the temperature at 20°C with a water bath. Fix the dilution: for this course, ID-11 or D-76 at 1+1, used once. Fix the agitation: four inversions in the first ten seconds of each minute, the same way every time. Time is then your only variable.
Our starting times at 20°C: Ilford HP5 Plus at ISO 400 in ID-11 1+1, 13 minutes. Kodak Tri-X 400 in D-76 1+1, 9 minutes 45 seconds. These are the manufacturers' published times for small tanks; confirm them against the current data sheet before you pour. |
