Sacrifice a roll. Take a cheap or expired film and load it onto the reel in full light, ten times, until your hands know the motion. Then do it with your eyes shut. Then in the bag.
In the bag: open the cassette, cut the leader off square, and snip the two corners so they don't catch. Feed the film under the reel's entry lugs, pull about an inch through, then twist the two halves of the reel back and forth to walk the film in. Cut the film from the spool at the end, drop the reel on the centre column into the tank and click the lid closed. Now you can open the bag.
If the film jams, don't force it. Back it out a little, check the reel is completely dry, and start again. A damp reel is the cause nine times out of ten. Handle the film by its edges only. |
